The written steps below are complete. Producing the video? Use the video script tab — it follows these steps one for one.

Each item has a name, a unit, a description and a price. The price can be calculated from Material + Labor + Margin, or typed directly as a manual override. Tax-exempt items are skipped when quote taxes are applied.

By the end you can

  • Add an item with automatic pricing
  • Switch an item to a manual price and back
  • Mark an item tax exempt and edit it later

Step by step

  1. Open Add item/pricing/productlist

On the product list click "Add item".

You should see: Dialog "Add Price Detail" with Name, Unit, Description, a "Price adjustment" block (Material, Labor, Margin, Price) and a "This item is tax exempt" checkbox.

  2. Name, unit, description/pricing/productlist

Type a Name such as "Architectural shingles", choose Unit SQ, and a short Description.

You should see: Unit options: SQ, SQFT, LF, EA, GAL, HR, BDL, PCT, RL, BX.

  3. Price from costs/pricing/productlist

Enter Material and Labor costs per unit and a Margin percentage.

You should see: The dialog reads "Automatic pricing is active. Price updates from Material + Labor + Margin." and shows "Calculated from costs: $X".

  4. Or type a manual price/pricing/productlist

    Type directly into Price.

You should see: "Manual price override is active…" appears with a "Use calculated price" button to revert.

  5. Tax exempt and save/pricing/productlist

Tick "This item is tax exempt" for labour-type items if your taxes apply to materials only. Click "Save".

You should see: The item appears in the table. Opening it again shows "Edit Price Detail" with an "Update" button.

Tips

  • Price changes apply to items added from now on; review existing quotes if they should pick up the new price.
