Schedule an inspection, estimate or install

Preconditions

• A job to attach the visit to (optional but recommended)
• For homeowner messages: the company time zone and the appointment automations switched on in Settings → Automations (next lesson); booking itself works without them
• A job with a valid email you control, automations switched on, so the confirmation can be shown arriving.

Steps

• 1. Open the dialogDo: On the calendar click "+ New appointment" (or click an empty slot), or on a job page click "Schedule" in the Appointments card.Expect: Dialog "Schedule an appointment".Actual:
• 2. Pick the job and typeDo: Choose a Job ("No job (internal)" for team-only events) and a Type: Inspection, Estimate, Install, Follow-up or Other. Choose who it is "Assigned to".Expect: Title defaults to "<Type> – <job>" and Location defaults to the job address.Actual:
• 3. Set date, time and lengthDo: Set Date and Start, then Length: 30 min, 1 hour, 1.5 hours, 2 hours, 3 hours, 4 hours or "All day (8 hours)". Add "Notes for the team" if useful.Expect: A time in the past shows "That time is in the past; no confirmation will be sent."Actual:
• 4. Decide about the homeowner messageDo: Leave "Send the homeowner a confirmation and a reminder" ticked to email and text them now and remind them the day before. Untick it for a silent booking.Expect: The checkbox only applies when a job is selected. Click "Schedule".Actual:
• 5. Edit, complete or cancel laterDo: Click the appointment on the calendar. Use "Done" when the visit happened, "Cancel visit" if it is off (the homeowner gets a cancellation if they got a confirmation), "Restore" to undo a cancel, the bin icon then "Really delete" to remove it, or change fields and "Save".Expect: Completed visits fade, canceled ones are struck through, and the job activity logs "Appointment scheduled / updated / canceled".Actual:

Trigger each situation deliberately and check the app behaves, or guides the user, as described.

• The homeowner did not receive a confirmation.What should happen or be shown: Check the job Activity for "Automatic message … failed", confirm the Appointment confirmation rule is on in Settings → Automations, and that the job has a valid email (and phone for texts).
