Attach tutorial videos to help guides

Paste a YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or direct video link onto a guide from the admin panel, order multiple videos, edit or remove them, and see the result on the public guide.

Guides are written in code; videos are attached from the admin panel so a finished video goes live without a deploy. The first video on a guide is the main one shown under the title; others appear below it. Until a guide has a video it shows "Video tutorial coming soon".

  • Attach a video to a guide
  • Order, edit and remove videos
  • Verify the embed on the guide page

Before you start

  • A super-admin account
  • The video published on YouTube (unlisted is fine), Vimeo or Loom

Screens used

Step by step

  1. Open Help videos/admin/help

    In the Admin Panel click "Help videos".

    You should see: Counts for Guides, With a video and Still to record; a search box; a switch "Only guides without a video"; guides grouped by module with an "Add video" button each.

  2. Add a video/admin/help

    Click "Add video" on a guide. Paste the link into "Video link", check the provider detection line, adjust the Title, add an optional Note and click "Attach video".

    You should see: The link is validated: YouTube, Vimeo, Loom or a direct https .mp4/.webm file. A preview appears for hosted videos. Toast "Video attached to the guide".

    A link with a start time (?t=90) keeps that start offset in the embed.

  3. Order, edit, remove/admin/help

    Use the up/down arrows to make a video the Main one, the pencil to edit title, link or note, and the bin to remove (confirm "Remove video").

    You should see: Changes save immediately; removal does not delete the video from its host.

  4. Check the guide/help/[slug]

    Open the guide link in a new tab.

    You should see: The video plays under the title; the course outline shows a play icon next to the lesson.

Tips

  • Every attach, edit and removal is written to the admin audit log.
