The written steps below are complete. Producing the video? Use the video script tab — it follows these steps one for one.

Tokens are the named measurements formulas refer to. The workspace starts with a standard set grouped into Roof, Wall, Siding and Openings. Add your own when your estimators capture something specific, such as skylight count or chimney flashing length.

By the end you can

  • Read the default categories and tokens
  • Add a category and a token with a unit
  • Enable or disable tokens

Step by step

  1. Open Measurements settings/settings?activeTab=measurement-settings

Go to Settings → "Measurements" (activeTab=measurement-settings).

You should see: Heading "Define the tokens your estimators capture…" with categories Roof, Wall, Siding and Openings, and buttons "Add Category", "Edit Category" and "Add Token".

  2. Read the Roof tokens/settings?activeTab=measurement-settings

Expand Roof. Note token keys such as total_area_sqft, waste_percent, ridge_lf and their units.

You should see: Each token shows a key, label, unit and an enable/disable control.

  3. Add a token/settings?activeTab=measurement-settings

Click "Add Token", choose a category, give it a label and key, and pick a unit: Square, Square Feet, Linear Feet, Each, Piece, Gallon, Hour, Bundle, Percent, Roll, Box or Text.

You should see: The token appears in its category and is available to formulas as @<category>.<key>.

  4. Disable what you never use/settings?activeTab=measurement-settings

Toggle off tokens that do not apply to your business.

You should see: Disabled tokens stop appearing in the formula token picker.

Tips

  • Tokens added here are only filled when an import supplies them; for anything else, type the quantity on the quote line.
