Narration, in order

  1. 0. Intro: Pricing methods: automatic vs manual, and quantity formulas

    0:00 · 20s

Title card, then the first screen of the lesson.

This is the lesson that turns My Roof CRM from a document tool into an estimator: automatic pricing and quantity formulas.

  2. 1. Check the pricing method of an item

    0:20 · 54s

Edit any item. Read whether it says "Automatic pricing is active" or "Manual price override is active".

Every item is either automatic or manual. The dialog always shows what the calculated price would be, so you can see how far your manual price drifts.

Show before cutting: "Calculated from costs: $X" is shown in both cases so you can compare.

  3. 2. Open the calculation dialog

    1:14 · 54s

In the table click "Calculation" on the shingles row.

Calculation is where the product learns to count itself.

Show before cutting: Dialog "Quantity calculation for <product>" with Formula, Tokens picker, Rounding, Quoted unit, Available tokens and "Test your formula".

  4. 3. Write the formula

    2:08 · 54s

Type a formula using tokens, for example [@roof.total_area_sqft * (1 + @roof.waste_percent / 100) / 33]. Use the Tokens picker to insert names without typos.

Total area, plus waste, divided by the coverage of one bundle, thirty-three square feet. That is bundles of shingles. Pick tokens from the list so the names are exact.

Show before cutting: The formula validates; unknown tokens are flagged.

  5. 4. Rounding and unit

    3:02 · 54s

Set Rounding to "Round up" (you cannot buy half a bundle) and Quoted unit to BDL.

Round up, because suppliers do not sell half bundles, and set the quoted unit.

Show before cutting: Options: No rounding, Round to 2 decimals, Round up, Round down, Nearest integer.

  6. 5. Test and save

    3:56 · 54s

In "Test your formula" enter sample values (area 2400, waste 10) and read the result. Save.

Test with a real roof: 2,400 square feet, ten percent waste, eighty bundles. Save, and every quote that adds this item will calculate from the job's measurements.

Show before cutting: The Measurement column in the table now shows the formula is attached.

  7. 6. Recap & next lesson

    4:50 · 15s

Hold on the finished result, then the end card.

Your products can now price and count themselves. Next: bulk import and export with Excel.
