Video tutorial coming soon

The written steps below are complete. Producing the video? Use the video script tab — it follows these steps one for one.

The left sidebar is the only navigation you need. It has a primary group for daily work, a Setup group for one-time configuration, and an account menu at the bottom. Editors such as the proposal editor start with the sidebar collapsed to give you room; your choice is remembered.

By the end you can

  • Explain what each sidebar item opens
  • Collapse and expand the sidebar and know when it collapses on its own
  • Open the account menu, the profile page and log out
  • Navigate on a phone

Step by step

  1. Read the company chip and the New job button/board

At the top of the sidebar, under the logo, find the chip with your company name. Below it is the prominent "New job" button, in your brand colour. Do not click it yet.

You should see: The chip shows the Account Name from Branding (or the organization name if branding is blank). The New job button is the most prominent control on the screen.

  2. Walk the primary group/board

Click each item in turn: Board, Calendar, Jobs, Customers, Dashboard, Price list. Read the page heading each time.

You should see: Board shows the stage columns. Calendar shows week/month/list views. Jobs shows a grid or list headed "Projects". Customers shows a roll-up table. Dashboard shows revenue cards. Price list shows your product table headed "Product List (default pricing)".

  3. Walk the Setup group/settings

Click Branding, Settings, Team, Billing and Help & guides. These are the things an owner sets up once.

You should see: Branding shows themes, account details, logo and colours. Settings shows a left menu of tabs starting at Layouts. Team shows members and invites. Billing shows your plan. Help & guides opens this help center.

  4. Collapse and expand the sidebar/board

Click "Collapse" at the very bottom of the sidebar. Hover over an icon to see its label. Click the chevron again to expand.

You should see: The sidebar narrows to icons with tooltips. Your choice is remembered the next time you open the app.

Pages under /edit, /order and /invoice start collapsed unless you expanded the sidebar yourself.

  5. Use the account menu/board

Click your initials and name at the bottom of the sidebar. The menu shows your email, "Profile" and "Log out".

You should see: Profile opens the page with your name and verification status. Log out signs you out to the public site.

  6. Try it on a phone/board

Narrow the browser (or open the app on your phone). A top bar appears with a menu button, the logo and a "+" button. Tap the menu button.

You should see: The same sidebar slides in from the left as a sheet and closes after you pick a link. The "+" button opens the New job dialog.

Tips

  • The sidebar highlights Jobs while you are inside a proposal, order or invoice editor, because those documents belong to a job.
  • Press the "Help & guides" item from any screen: the help home opens with "Guides for the screen you came from" at the top.
