This lesson strings together the most important screens so you experience the whole flow once before learning each piece in depth. Use a test homeowner with your own second email address so you can sign the proposal yourself.

The app creates a "Standard proposal" layout for you the first time you click Create proposal if you have none, so no setup is needed beyond branding.

By the end you can

  • Create a job and open its job page
  • Create a proposal from the default layout and add a lump-sum quote item
  • Send the proposal for signature and sign it as the homeowner
  • See the job move to Quote sent and then Signed automatically

Before you start

  • Branding is set up
  • Your email is verified
  • You have a second email address to play the homeowner

Screens used

  • /board
  • /projects/[projectId]
  • /edit/report/[reportId]
  • /agreement/[reportId]

Step by step

  1. Create the job/board

Click "New job" in the sidebar. Fill in Client First Name, Client Last Name, Email (your second address), Phone, Address Line 1, City, State / Province and Zip / Postal Code. Leave Project Name blank. Click "Create job".

You should see: Toast "Job created". The job page opens with the customer name as the title and the job named "<Last name> – <Address line 1>".

  2. Create the proposal/projects/[projectId]

On the job page, in the Proposals tab, click "Create proposal".

You should see: A proposal named "Roofing proposal – <address>" appears and the editor opens with the pages Cover, Introduction, Quote Details, Terms & Conditions, Warranty, Inspection and Authorization in the left "Pages" list.

  3. Add a lump-sum quote item/edit/report/[reportId]

Click the "Quote Details" page. In the first quote tab click "Add New Item", type a name such as "Complete roof replacement", quantity 1 and your price, then press Enter to commit the field.

You should see: The item appears in the section and the Total, Grand Total and quote tab total update.

  4. Check the signer/edit/report/[reportId]

Click the "Authorization" page and scroll to Signers. Signer 1 (Primary) is prefilled with the customer's name and email.

You should see: Name and Email are filled; both are required to send.

  5. Review and send/edit/report/[reportId]

Click "Review and Share" in the toolbar. In the Document Preview click "Send for Signing". In the Send Email dialog check the signer line, keep or edit the email body, and click "Send Agreement".

You should see: The button changes to "Agreement Sent". Back on the job page the card reads "Sent <date> · 0/1 signed", and on the board the job sits in Quote sent.

If you see "Email Verification Required", go to Profile and verify your email first.

  6. Open it as the homeowner/agreement/[reportId]

Open the email in your second inbox and click "Review and Sign Quote". Read the proposal page, cut back to the job page to show the open logged, then click "Review & sign" (or select an option and "Accept & sign").

You should see: The e-sign page shows "Select your estimate option", "Summary" and a "Save & sign" button. On the job page the activity shows "Homeowner opened the proposal".

  7. Sign and watch the board/board

Click "Save & sign", draw a signature in the Sign Document dialog and click "Save Signature". Return to the board, then cut briefly to the inbox of the account owner.

You should see: The page reads "This proposal has been signed." The job is in Signed, the card shows "Signed" and Job value equals the signed total.

Tips

  • Everything you just did by hand has a deeper lesson: options, photos, templates, taxes and more. Follow the modules in order or jump to what you need.

Troubleshooting

  • "No Default Layout Found" appeared when I clicked Create proposal.

Normally the app picks or creates a default for you. You see this only if all your layouts are private and none is default (or the workspace is read-only): click "Go to Settings" and click "MAKE DEFAULT" on a layout.
