Video tutorial coming soon

The written steps below are complete. Producing the video? Use the video script tab — it follows these steps one for one.

Every job starts with the New job dialog. It asks for the homeowner and the property, nothing more; photos, measurements and the proposal come next. The customer record is created automatically from the email plus full name, and reused if the same person comes back.

By the end you can

  • Create a job from anywhere in the app
  • Know which fields are required and what the job is named by default
  • Understand how the customer record is matched

Screens used

Step by step

  1. Open the dialog/board

Click "New job" at the top of the sidebar (or the "+" on a phone, or "Create new project" on the Jobs page).

You should see: Dialog titled "New job" with the line "Who is the homeowner and where is the roof? You can add photos and a quote next."

  2. Enter the homeowner/board

Fill Client First Name, Client Last Name, Email and Phone. All four are required and the email must be valid. Company is optional.

You should see: Validation messages appear under any field left empty when you try to submit.

  3. Enter the property/board

Fill Address Line 1, City, State / Province and Zip / Postal Code. There is no second address line; put a unit number in Address Line 1.

You should see: All four are required.

  4. Name and lead source/board

Leave Project Name blank unless you want a custom name. Optionally pick a Lead source: Phone call, Website, Referral, Google, Facebook / Instagram, Door knocking, Repeat customer or Other.

You should see: A blank name becomes "<Last name> – <Address line 1>" after saving.

  5. Create and land on the job/projects/[projectId]

    Click "Create job".

You should see: Toast "Job created" and the job page opens. On the board the job sits in New lead; on Customers the homeowner now appears with 1 linked project.

Tips

  • A second job for the same homeowner (same email and name) links to the existing customer instead of creating a duplicate.
  • To fix a typo after creating, use "Edit job details" from the ⋯ menu on the job page.

Troubleshooting

  • The homeowner has no email address.

Email is required to create a job. Use a placeholder you control (for example office+smith@yourcompany.com) and edit it later in Project Settings when you have the real one.
