The written steps below are complete. Producing the video? Use the video script tab — it follows these steps one for one.

Below the items, each option has a Price Adjustments card and a totals block. Adjustments are discounts or markups, in dollars or percent, each with a Visible switch. Taxes come from Settings → Tax Settings; required taxes are applied to new quotes automatically and optional ones can be added per quote.

By the end you can

  • Add and hide adjustments
  • Apply optional and required taxes
  • Explain each totals line

Step by step

  1. Add an adjustment/edit/report/[reportId]

In "Price Adjustments" click "Add Adjustment Item". Choose Type Discount or Markup, give it a Name and a Dollar value ($) or Percentage (%).

You should see: The row shows Name / Dollar value / Percentage / Visible / Action and the totals move.

  2. Decide visibility/edit/report/[reportId]

Flip "Visible" off on an adjustment, and optionally edit the card's "Section Title" and its own Visible switch.

You should see: Hidden adjustments still affect the total but do not print as a line.

  3. Apply taxes/edit/report/[reportId]

In the totals block, under "Applied taxes", add an optional tax from the list. Note any tax flagged "Required".

You should see: Taxable subtotal excludes tax-exempt items; Tax total and Total update.

  4. Read the totals/edit/report/[reportId]

Read top to bottom: Quote subtotal, Taxable subtotal, adjustments, Applied taxes, Tax total, Total, then Grand Total.

You should see: Grand Total repeats Total in large type; it is what the homeowner is asked to sign for before optional upgrades.

Tips

  • The profit margin for the whole quote is set on the Authorization page ("Profit margin for this quote", 0–100), separate from item margins.
